  3. ‘POSTURE’ is similar to a Putting Stroke’ with a different Club producing a ‘Putt With A Hop’. The hop requires more ‘Energy’ and a greater ‘Brace Hand Travel Distance’ or longer stroke length.

Clubhead Path comes in three flavours! … Inside-Out, Square and Outside-In. We know by now that the ‘Fade Slice Spin Rate and Ball Flight Shape originates from 1) Outside-In Path, 2) Open Clubface at Separation and 3) Slow Hands. (see ‘Too Tight of a Grip Pressure’)

An adult human ‘Spinal Support Engine’ has 24 vertebral bones, referred to as the ‘Pre or Supra Sacral Vertebrae’. At birth, the human spine consists of 33 individual irregularly shaped bones called ‘Vertebrae’. 9 of these fuse as the infant develops. I will identify these facets below.

Each of the 24 adult vertebra has a hole in the middle through which the spinal cord runs. These vertebral segments might remind you of boney and intra-cushioned structural donuts? Perhaps not? There are multiple small passageways through which the spinally sourced and branching nerves pass. The nerve that advises the brain that you have a tingly sensation or injured finger actually passes through or is branched from the Cervical or Neck Vertebrae. Anywhere you can feel anything below the base of your skull requires a nerve that transmits electro-chemical sensory to and through the Spinal Cord and column.

The spinal cord can be divided into five different regions, from top to bottom.

Golf has a lot of Newtonian truths, some more important and relevant than others.

‘Address Ready’ is where the ‘Ball Location is roughly on your Sternum … center chest. This is NOT where we are meant to strike the ball. Unlike how so many golfers perceive, this is not where ‘Clubhead Speed and Energy Transfer’ are optimal.

Hit a hockey slap shot, hit or throw a baseball, smack a tennis forehand smash down the sideline, etc.

To hover in golf means that one has the ‘Weight of the Golf Club In Hand’. The sole of the Clubhead is very slightly elevate above the grass … ‘Hovering Like A Helicopter’.

IT IS NOT OPTIONAL

Why?

If one allows the Golf Club Weight to sit on the grass, the Clubhead cannot be easily swept away from the ball. The grass gets in the way and we stumble in our takeaway. This immediately throws us off our precise routine and smooth mechanics. (see ‘Path & Plane’)

There is a 100 year trend of ‘Ball Flight Distance Increases’ as well as a corresponding increase in the length of golf courses, across the game globally. The USGA, the R&A and professionals who stand on the grass every day, teaching and playng, believe this continuing cycle is detrimental to the game’s long-term future. Changes must be made! “What might they be?” you ask. One that is long overdue is ‘Ready Golf’. (see ‘Pace Of Play’) Next, we must ‘Cool The Golf Ball’. Any projectile going 350+ yards is circus! A second necessity is to ‘Play It Forward’. At some point in time ‘Playing From The Tips’ is more fantasy than reality. ‘Up Front’ makes us happier! Do you want #5 Irons to the fat of a green or a soft ‘Approach Wedge’ to the 5 Foot Circle? Scoring better consistently matters!

Each separate ‘Golf Swing Procedure’ has some variations in ‘Characteristics’. It helps us to list or define these in order to clarify or identify the variables. Here are the basic ‘Putting Characteristics’ or ‘Components’.

1) ‘POSTURE, Proper Spine Angle’ to support the ‘Pre-Selected Components and Procedures’. (‘Forward Inclination, Aft-Tilt’ and ‘Hips Socket to Sternum Clearance’, ‘CHIN Tallish’)

2) ‘Proper GRIP’ which should be ‘Weak’ and ‘Palms Opposed’ with ‘Quiet Hands’ throughout the ‘Entire Stroke’. This is not carved in concrete but is a basic parameter.

3) ‘Fixed Wrist Triangles/Wedges’. No ‘Flip or Throw-Away’.

4) ‘Light GRIP Pressure’, minimal Body Tension

5) Appropriate Attitude which must be very ‘Positive’. CONFIDENT.

6) ‘BODY RELAXED’ … BREATHING slowly and deeply.

“To release what?” is the question. The answer is to release loaded ‘Configuration, Condition, Components or Position’ as well as to release stored, ‘Potential or Ready Energy’ into the ‘Kinetic, Active or Dynamic’ form … to achieve ‘Stopped At The TOB’ (‘Zero Velocity’) and convert it into ‘Go In The BOSA’ or ‘Bottom Of Swing Arc’ (‘Clubhead Speed’).

You might find the ‘555 Golf Power Line Delivery Sequence’ of interest. It embraces the 360 degree energy process … the full energy circle. This useful sequence is ‘ALSDR’ or Accumulate, Load, Store, Deliver and Release. Each and every strike abides by this ‘Sequence’ regardless of ‘Swing Length’.
